Part II of our summer trek to North Dakota and back, finally.

I'm finally getting around to the rest of our trip from North Dakota, back to Florida. After making our way through South Dakota and Iowa, we reach Missouri. Here,s Kansas City, just before dawn.

We stopped for breakfast just west of Kansas City, where we found this guy in his car/hotel room.I was WAY tired before we drove through St. Louis, so I handed the wheel to my equally tired Daughter. Sara drove us clear through to Indiana where I finally woke up and took over for her. What a joy to have someone else to share the driving duties. I got us to Kentucky, where we stopped for the night. The Girls loved the food and the hotel, especially since there was a pool.
The next day we visited the town of Cave City, Kentucky. We planned on touring Mammoth Cave, and were surprised by how much there was to do here.
Our agenda had us going into mammoth cave, first We didn't realize that the cave was actually a bus ride away, though this park had the tour set up pretty well. Here's our tour guide. The cave entrance started at the bottom of a huge sinkhole.Upon entering the cave, we were glad we brought our sweaters. It was 55 degrees inside. The camera lens was a bit fogged up when we left the cave, since it was about 30 degrees warmer outside the cave. After the cave tour we decided to go horseback riding. Our tour guide on the horses was name "Big hungry", LOL.Each of our horses had funny names, and mine, shown here, was named Trigger.
We left Kentuckyand arrived in Tennessee that evening. We stopped for the night right outside of Gatlinburg.

The next day we got up early, rode Go-Carts
Visited the cascades of the Smokie Mountains
Drove up through the Smokie's into North Carolina and made our way back into Florida. Our mileage for this trip was 5,165 miles in 8 days. What a great trip, with my great Girls.
